Beachgrass Explorer - Nike Beach Dogs series in Seaside

This is Oscar.  He is a Welsh Terrier.  In this painting, he is just a young puppy, more black than tan.  He is exploring the Oregon coast with his trusted owner.  He is so young and so little, he almost gets lost within the beach grass.  "Beachgrass Explorer" was painted for the May Portraiture show at Fairweather House & Gallery in Seaside, Oregon, based on a photo of Oscar taken by his owner Andrew Nelson.  I used to have two Welsh Terriers, and I just love the look of a Welshie puppy!  Oscar is one of several Nike dogs who love to visit the coast for adventures with their owners.
