Montinore Western Hills in BAM! Art Show & Sale!

Montinore Western Hills, oil en plein air, 11x14
I'm so excited to be able to announce that Montinore Western Hills is one of my two plein air pieces that have been accepted into the Beaverton Arts Mix! (BAM!) art show and sale. BAM! is an annual juried event in Beaverton, Oregon, my home town. Last fall, when I had just started to reengage in painting en plain air, my daughter and I participated in the BAM! Quick Draw event, painting at the Beaverton Farmer's Market. During the weekend, we viewed the BAM! juried show in the Beaverton City Library. At the time, I didn't know any of the artists. Later that month, I set a goal that this year, in 2016, I would have artwork in that show. I wrote the goal on a small card and posted it on my fridge. In July, I submitted four images to the show, and two were accepted. This was my favorite painting from last fall's Washington County Plein Air, so I'm really pleased to have it juried into BAM! to be shown at our city library this October! You can read more about the BAM! event on my Events page.
. . .
I painted this plein air piece during 2015 Plein Air Washington County, my first paint out event. Montinore Estate is a beautiful vineyard in Forest Grove, Oregon. It is a working vineyard with a lovely tasting room. I painted three pieces here onsite, and was able to taste wine and eat cheese in the tasting room between paintings. I found a shady spot behind the winemaking operations, off a dirt road, looking toward the western hills. It was a beautiful fall afternoon, and I felt very free and happy as I painted in this looser, more abstract style that I love.
